"I got more involved with jazz when I was in college at Boston University," Sturm says. "Boston was really hot then - there were a lot of jazz clubs and good things happening, and I caught a lot of shows." When the Sturm family decided to open a club, Ron is the one who suggested jazz. The name Iridium was chosen for several reasons. Iridium is a silvery white metal, but the word derives from iris, so it also refers to a rainbow.
